Is Plastic Wrap the Same as Saran Wrap?
Yes. Much like Kleenex is a brand that’s synonymous with facial tissue, Saran is a brand of plastic food wrap. But all plastic wrap, saran wrap, cling film and cling wrap are essentially the same thing.
Can Plastic Wrap Go in the Oven?
In general, plastic wrap is not oven-safe. However, at fairly low temperatures, some recipes do call for plastic-wrapped foods to go in a low oven safely. Most plastic wrap will melt at around 250 degrees Fahrenheit. But, if you need to keep food warm in a low oven, or cooked low and slow, there are some cases when plastic wrap can be used in an oven. But, for typical oven cooking temperatures, reach for aluminum foil instead.
